In 2016, I accepted an opportunity that would forever change how one viewed fashion in the city of Cincinnati. My passion for fashion and trusting the process privileged me the opportunity to produce a fashion event that would not only showcase my brand but create a platform for others in my community. My partnership with P&G and Cincinnati Music Festival gave me the ability to promote other small black owned businesses and help them to leverage during one of the busiest and most traveled weekends in Cincinnati history.
A fashion line that represents beauty, confidence and status will be showcased at the Underground Freedom Center Sunday Oct. 18. Shingo Fashion is a women’s clothing line born in Cincinnati, but stays true to its inspired roots. Founder Chanel Scales was inspired by the term, “Shingo,” which is Swahili for the term “neck.” In Swahili, the neck is a symbol of beauty and pride.
